It is made in China instead, which cost it one star. Other than that, it has been working in our swamper steadily for about a month now, and so far - no problems. I only hope it will outlast its predecessor (same make, same power, same origin), which quit after 3 years. I may come back and post the update, in case something pops out. So far, so good.I think I should mention the seller: a pleasure to deal with. Super fast shipping, too. I know it has nothing to do with the quality of the item, but I like good service.Cooling season May 27, 2013: downgrading rating to ONE STAR.Unfortunately it turned out to be another low quality piece of crap made in China. Worked well one season. This season, it just froze and refused to start. An electrician got it going, so it worked for about 6 hours. And it quit. Considering the cost of a new motor every season, we are thinking about installing central air. Even with higher per-month cost, it still will be less expensive than constant buying new motors crappily made in China. I am VERY disappointed. Why can't we buy stuff that used to be quality made in United States, and lasted for years, if not decades?
