**EDIT** I’ve been using this cooler more than any regular human uses a cooler, and I’ve made it a point to come back and amend my original statement on two things… 1: the lock down handles hold up under all circumstances, and 2: four stars move to five stars. This little guy is my best pal and I love this cooler muchly after about 6 months of use!!! Continue reading…??CONS: Great looking cooler, nice features. Very bothered that Plano decided to let China make this product for them, though. Most of their stuff is made in the USA. Why does that bother me? Am I xenophobic or racist? No, not a bit. It’s because China typically produces things very cheaply. The lock down handles on this cooler ARE going to snap at some point. They are not sturdy enough. They feel very thin, and very brittle. I’m feeling exceptionally positive that they will have a failure after being in direct sunlight for a stretch of time…which is what coolers are supposed to be capable of. The weather stripping embedded in the lid should be a little thicker. The clamps are totally effortless to close, and there should be some tension to create a nice, tough, airtight seal. That being said, it did pass a water test upside down with no leaking whatsoever.Price. This cooler should be a $45-55 cooler, but it is $89 (at time of my order). Also, can I address the inner measurements?!? It holds like 4 and 12/13ths of a standard beer can going side to side…could you not have engineered it to 3/16ths more of an inch to put 5 beers in there? Seems like an amateur oversight to me.PROS: On the bright side, my ice is staying very cold and not turning to water! It does seem to live up to the 5-day ice retention, but don’t expect it to be waterless ice, and do keep in mind that if you put warm beers on cold ice, you will have instant water production that no cooler in the world could stop, and then it won’t last five days. If you put ice cold beers into the cooler with fresh ice…I’m fairly confident that your beer would still be ice cold on day 5. But who puts beer into a 14qt cooler and expects that much beer to last 5 days? Not me, that s#|*+ is gone by evening number one, and I’m then adding more warm beers to the ice for the next night.CONCLUSION: I bought this cooler to go on DUI rides on my surrey bike. It is totally a perfect cooler for that purpose. It would also work for someone who hates themselves enough to go fishing, etc. This 14qt is a perfect size for my purposes and does work very well. I’m wondering what the other reviews here are all about with the ice in at 8am and lukewarm by 1pm…? Are you putting a hot Dutch oven full of boiling water in your ice chest? So…this is a good, lower-priced version if you’re looking for something in the Yeti/Rtic realm of coolers. It does not stand up to either Yeti or Rtic in terms of build quality, however. You get what you pay for, and I’d like to see this cooler be $20 cheaper. Worth the money, though? Yeah…it was worth it for me.4 stars for the weak clamps. Everything else I’m super happy with. After several months of use, it’s become my beverage toter of choice, and I am very happy with it; but it has received many a sticker personalization by now, and that is crucial. I’m still waiting for the clamps to snap on me. And I’m also not wholly convinced the tie down strap holder thingies won’t die eventually either. Still, though….worth the money for me.
